BIO

A modern day renaissance man, Carlos Matias considers himself a connoisseur of everything from social media to social drinking. Somewhere between procuring an A.S. in Music Engineering at Queensborough Community College and pursuing a B.A. in Communications at St. John’s University, a hopeful Carlos dreamt of nothing but one day becoming Hoke Colburn to Kanye West’s Daisy Werthan. Matias scored an internship at West’s G.O.O.D. Music record label where he didn’t learn about racism and the social aspects of discrimination, but instead, how to stunt, as he acquired an affinity for diamond grills, amongst some of the other finer things in life. Carlos listens to the College dropout—the best piece of music ever written—as he thinks back on a time when life meant more to him than chasing international super-stardom.
Since then, a tender-hearted Carlos moved on to write for Mass Appeal, Wax Poetics and Vapors magazines where he covered everything from bad music to bad fashion to his unhealthy obsession with bad-ass celebrities who just can’t seem to stay on the right side of the law (Free Lindsay Lohan!). He has also held digital marketing positions at Bad Boy, VIBE and YRB. In anticipation of living out his millionaire childhood dreams of losing it all in a game of “Go Fish” against the fun-sized child actor Emmanuel Lewis, Mr. Matias has began penning his memoirs in a book tentatively titled, “Guinness and Grey Jeans: The Rise and Fall of a Champion,” where he plans to weave tales of music, fashion, and all things sexy.
